Father, we give you thanks and praise for Paul’s proclamation of the precious promise that “If we are faithful, [God] remains faithful, for [God] cannot disown himself.” Wow! Thank you so much that we, who are so prone to wander and wonder in our frail humanity, are so permanently and marvelously tethered to your everlasting faithfulness! We confess that even though we desire to please you every day in every way, our hearts and minds come and go in random moments of distraction. But we take this occasion after today’s passage to pledge to you a fresh desire and commitment to return your faithful goodness with faithful worship and service. Impress on us a fresh calling for our devotion to the cause and the work of your church. May our living truly glorify you for your gift of such great faithfulness and your provision to us of “fresh mercies anew, morning by morning.” So bless us this day with your favor, as we are prompted to praise you without ceasing!
