Father,

Your plans are often unexpected. Over and over again, we manipulate our view of Your story to fit our own agenda and expectations. Christ who was called “God with us,” came as a vulnerable child. A child with a King looking to kill him. A child whose parents had no fame or fortune. You work outside of our expectations yet we keep placing them on You.

Lord, remind me to listen to Your voice and find Your glory in the places I might look past. You do not only show up in the great and mighty, but in the small and simple. Perhaps that’s where You find the humble. Where we are not guided by worldly success and our own gain, You show us Your goodness. In a baby, lying in a manger, You show up. Let us find our way to You and worship.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
