Jesus, we thank you for the covenant that was purchased by your blood. We thank you that your body was broken on our behalf. Thank you for your willingness to accept the punishment we deserved because of the joy of presenting us blameless to God. You not only suffered death, but betrayal and the desertion of your closest followers all for the sake of bringing us into the right relationship with the Father. We take the bread and cup in remembrance of the very real kingdom that was inaugurated at your resurrection. We await the day eagerly when we get to feast in your presence when you return in power to set up your everlasting kingdom in the renewed heavens and earth. In the meantime, we ask for peace, wisdom, and courage amidst all the calamity that exists in the world around us. It is very easy to become fearful of the wars and destruction that you say will last until you return. We cling to the hope that your return is not something to be feared, but celebrated. We can’t wait for all things to be made right in your presence. We take heart in the fact that you have overcome the world and that everything happening will work out for your glory and our good. Amen.
