Lord,

There is no satisfaction outside Your will. The desert remains a desert and the empty places remain in want. The good deeds we accomplish in pursuit of our own glory go without reverence. Have You not called us to see Your own heart for the weak, the powerless, and the broken? Not to simply do “good” but to be overwhelmed in each facet of ourselves by Your very Spirit within us?

Lord, help us to see the way You see. Help us to live from an overflowing of Your love instead of the pursuit of outward appearances and phony religion. Then You will show us the full glory of Yourself in our lives.

You say in Isaiah 58:11,
“The Lord will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.”

We commit ourselves to finding satisfaction in Your “living waters” instead of the accomplishments of religion. We burst forth with love for You and each thing we do in Your name becomes and outpouring of your Spirit in us.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
