Father,

Remind me to find rest in the middle of the striving. Men strive for wealth, acclamation and power but I know Your kingdom sees things differently. My wealth is in Spiritual fruit, My acclamation is in shepherding souls, and my power is found only in Your Spirit.

No matter the list of achievements under my name or honors the world may bestow, my only joy is in Your name glorified. In Your endless view, my life is one word in a much longer story. I won’t forget Your greatness or forget where I place my eternal hope.

Let this be my prayer,

“My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;

    at best, each of us is but a breath.” Interlude

We are merely moving shadows,

    and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.

We heap up wealth,

    not knowing who will spend it.

And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?

    My only hope is in you.”

Psalm 39:5-7

In Jesus’ name,
Amen
