Lord,

Few other characters are remembered for their suffering other than Job. He is remembered for the loss he experienced and his sorrowful monologue. How could you not? How could his sorrow be forgotten?

However, Lord, I feel you are directing me towards Job’s humility. Despite his suffering, complaining, and the influence of his friends, Job fully submits himself to his experience. He humbles himself and submits his understanding to your understanding.

Father, in the midst of my daily life, may I not focus on what my flesh calls suffering, but instead in the midst of all circumstances, lead my heart to a place of humility and submission. Through that submission, may my capacity to trust you be expanded.

I place my will on the altar and pray your will be done.

Amen
