Lord,

Thank you for David and for Solomon. Thank you for the examples of men that pleased you. Thank you for these men who sacrificed much to honor you. Thank you for keeping your promise to these men despite their faults. Thank you for showing your people that it isn’t about what we do that pleases you, but our faith.

David sinned against you. Solomon sinned against you. Yet, you call them great. You loved them. You honored them. It was not because of the battles, palaces, or temples, but because of their love and faith in you. Nothing they did could bring them closer to or separate themselves from you. You did not desire their actions, but their hearts.

Thank you for sending your son, Lord. That I do not have to strive for or toil for my salvation. Without Jesus, I would be doomed. Despite my best efforts, I would fail. Despite my position, or class, or creed I would be without hope. It is only through Jesus that we are saved, father.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Amen
