Lord,
The true inheritance of Your people has changed. Land, power, influence, and worldly possessions are a blessing to be committed unto You, but surely the inheritance of eternal life is worth 1000 times more! My pursuits, in the same way, have changed! My purpose for life will be lost to moths and rust if I am only hungry for the success of this world. You tell us to lay our treasures in the Kingdom of Heaven! Father, help me to be reminded of their worth when the world places treasures before me. Your Kingdom is far greater and my heart belongs there.
Thank You for the inheritance You offer by the blood of Christ; the adoption of Your children into the family blessed by Your everlasting presence. We don’t deserve the promise of heaven, yet You made a way through sacrifice. Help me to be grateful when the circumstances of this life are suffering and pain. These things are temporary and what awaits me is so much greater!
