Scripture

I’ve always loved airports. The concoction of smells in the international cafeteria, the hustle and bustle of people weaving through crowds, the massive piles of strangers huddled around cellphone charging stations. Ah, I’m getting warm inside just thinking about it 🙂

Airports are an exciting experience for me. Every part except the dreaded “security line.” Yikes, just typing those words stresses me out. Nobody likes to gradually shuffle through a long line but the real terror begins when the shoes start to come off. The moment you realize, “I should have just worn crocs, these laces aren’t worth it.”

I wonder if Moses thought the same thing? I imagine him in those stereotypical “Gladiator” sandals, nervously unwrapping the straps and he enters holy ground. God’s presence was a very serious matter for Moses. Yes, even more serious than a “security line.” Mankind did not relate to God in a casual manner in Moses’ day. The holiness of God was dangerous. God’s people took care to only come into His presence when they had taken drastic measures to cleanse themselves of unrighteousness. Even when Moses removes his shoes, God tells him to “stay where he is.”

Exodus 3:5-6 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Praise God, things have changed. Jesus bled for our unrighteousness so that the Spirit may reside in us. Did you read that?! IN US! No more shoes have to come off, no more blood offerings to be made. We carry His Spirit with us as we live and breathe. We exist in His presence because Jesus stands in the gap. I live my life in reverence to a Holy God who has paid in blood to allow me to freely enter in.

Prayer

HONOR GOD

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Consider it a privilege that we get to be ambassadors for the Lord. The way that we carry ourselves and communicate should be a reflection of who God is. Thank him for bestowing that honor on you

ASK GOD

Ephesians 6:18-20

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Ask God with perseverance. Knowing that when you knock on the door he listens.

SUBMIT TO GOD

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

The process of our minds being renewed is one of submission to God. Often we believe we know what is best for us, but let God’s word and His Spirit lead you to a place of transformation.

CLOSING PRAYER

God, I know that I am your child. My identity is in you. Allow everything that I do to be a reflection of who you are. If there are areas in my life that need refining, I pray that you would graciously lead to a space of transformation that I might be open to receiving what you’re doing for the purpose of lifting your name higher in my life. Transform me and empower me to lead a life that is honoring to you.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
