Focus Statement:

Even when life feels tangled or uncertain, we can trust the God who is holy in nature, good in character, and intentional in His love—carefully weaving every thread of our lives into His perfect design.

Introduction: The Tapestry of God’s Character

  • Picture a massive tapestry
  • God’s character is like that tapestry:
    • Holy – the flawless, set-apart foundation
    • Good – the vibrant thread of mercy running through history
    • Intentional – the purposeful weaving of every detail in our lives
  • Life’s pain or confusion often feels like tangled threads—but God is the Master Weaver.
  • Every thread—every moment—is part of a bigger picture He is forming.
  • Today, let’s examine that tapestry and discover the beauty in His character: holy, good, and intentional.

God is Holy:

  • Set apart in power, purity, and perfection (Isaiah 6:3)
  • His holiness undergirds both justice and mercy
  • Application: Approach God with reverence and awe; let worship flow from wonder

God is Good:

  • Compassionate, gracious, patient (Psalm 103:8)
  • Objection: “If God is good and just, why not fix everything now?”
    • He will—but not yet (Revelation 21:4)
    • His delay = mercy (2 Peter 3:9)
  • Application: Trust God’s timing and His goodness even in delay

God is Intentional:

  • He desires relationship, restoration, and renewal (Leviticus 26:12)
  • God’s justice is restorative, not punitive
  • For the lukewarm: God hasn’t given up on you—He’s still weaving your life into His purpose
  • For the long-faithful: Don’t settle—there’s always more of Him to know
  • Application: Respond to His intentionality with deeper obedience and surrender

Walking it Out:

  • Because God is holy, good, and intentional, we respond with awe, trust, and surrender.

Sermon Questions

  • Which part of God’s character—His holiness, His goodness, or His intentional love—do you struggle to trust most right now, and why?
  • How might God’s “delay” in fixing everything actually be an act of mercy in your life or the life of someone you love?
  • What thread of your life have you kept from God’s hand, and what would it look like to surrender it to the Master Weaver?
