Anchor Verses:
Deuteronomy 29:29, Ephesians 1:13–14, Romans 8:9
Focus Statement:
Though we may never fully comprehend the mystery of the Trinity, God has revealed what we need to walk in faith: the Father who initiates, the Son who saves, and the Spirit who seals and empowers us.
Introduction: The Mystery and the Map
- God is not fully comprehensible—but He has revealed what we need to know.
- We are called to walk in humble confidence, embracing mystery and revelation together (Deut. 29:29).
Humble Confidence:
- God exists as a community of love—Father, Son, and Spirit.
- Use metaphors (sun/light/heat; mind/body/soul) to approach understanding, but don’t idolize the metaphor.
- Full understanding is beyond human capacity—faith requires humility.
The Son:
- Jesus is fully God—otherwise salvation has no power.
- He fulfilled the righteous requirements of God through His perfect life and sacrificial death.
The Spirit:
- The Holy Spirit is the seal and guarantee of salvation (Eph. 1:13–14).
- Without the Spirit, faith is powerless (Rom. 8:9).
- Only when softened (surrendered) can we be sealed by the Spirit.
- Are you receptive? Have you made room for the Spirit to move?
Walking it Out:
- If you’re confused about the Trinity or feeling disconnected—soften your heart to be filled.
- Evidence of the Spirit is seen in the fruit of your life.
