Focus Statement:
Though we are freed from ritual law, God still calls His people to approach Him with reverence, humility, and holiness—trusting that in Christ we are both cleansed and upheld, never crushed, but always restored.
A Humble and Contrite Heart (Psalm 51)
- OT priests risked death if unclean when approaching God (Exod. 30:17–21).
- Access to God has always been costly.
- We’re freed from ritual, but not from reverence.
- The heart of the matter: holiness.
A Humble and Contrite Heart (Psalm 51)
- David acknowledges his rebellion and need for cleansing.
- The greatest obstacle to spiritual growth: ourselves.
- True worship: a broken and repentant heart, not empty offerings.
Called to Holiness & Humility (1 Pet. 1:13–17; 2 Chron. 7:14–16)
- “Gird up” your mind—prepare for action, not passivity.
- Be sober-minded: alert, focused, not swayed by culture or desires.
- Holiness fueled by hope in Christ’s return, not human effort.
- Humility and repentance invite God’s healing and restoration.
- God completes the work He begins (Phil. 1:6).
God Will Not Break a Bruised Reed (Matt. 12:20)
- Jesus will not crush the weak or extinguish faint faith.
- We don’t have to fear confronting our sin; Christ already bore it.
- In brokenness, Jesus restores joy, justice, and new life.
