Father,
Your gospel is so much more than we claim! Perhaps we’ve created our own in an effort to make it more comfortable. The truth is much deeper and more beautiful than our retellings. To imagine you giving your son for the sake of sinners who betray and deny you is impossible for my human mind. But there it is, written in your Word. You did the unimaginable out of love for me! You experienced the darkest places so I could be free from them!
Don’t let me forget the stories that led to the cross and the reason why you made a way by the blood of Jesus! When I face any hardship I can look to you and know you’ve already paved the way and done so with perfection. When the world is against me, you’ve felt that first. Thank you Jesus for being the author and perfecter of faith and for being willing to drink from the cup you were given for my sake.
