Lord,

David’s prayer in 1 Chronicles 29 is what I want to offer back to you. His words are far more beautiful and appropriate than mine.

“O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!

Father, please change my heart to be the joyful and passionate giver that David was. Please forgive me for losing sight of the truth that David later stated, “For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.” Please forgive me for being greedy with my possessions and finances, my time, my friendships, and my desires. Please help me to willingly and freely surrender all those to you for they are all from you anyways! Thank you for being so patient with me and forgiving me. I love you. Amen.
