Lord,

How quickly we forget. As Adam and Eve hid from you in the garden they replied, “We were afraid.” Just as the people in Joshua reply when asked, “Why did you build this altar?” “We were afraid…”

Lord, thank you for the revelation you have provided to your people. Thank you that you have instructed us through your own mouth and through the mouths of your angels, “Do not be afraid.” For fear comes from a place of distrust. Fear comes from a place void of faith. Fear is the recognition that we simply cannot handle, accomplish, or stop whatever force is coming. No. We cower because we can do nothing else but fear.

Yet, you have told your people time and time again, “Do not fear.” With God is with you, who can be against you? What force or power can come against you? Lord, open my heart to trust you more. Open my heart you know that You had told me not to fear. Yet, you have not done so empty handed. You have not told me to do this for the sake of faith. No, you have told me with all of creation within your hand. I can trust you because you are in control when I am not. I relinquish my control and my understanding. I trust you, Lord.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
