Scripture

I was a bit nerdy in High School. Instead of going to late night parties I went to midnight book premieres, and instead of spending my Saturdays hanging out at the mall I’d hang out at Barnes & Noble. Judge me if you will but I don’t think I missed out on much!

When I first started reading, I’d choose a book based on a recommendation, a synopsis blurb, or most likely, an enticing front cover. Sometimes this method worked out, but more often than not it led to disappointment by chapter 3 when I’d give up and move onto something different. After wasting my time putting down another aimless story, I got rebellious and I did what most readers would consider impossible; I skipped to the end.

I’d secretly flip to the last chapter and skim the final pages in hopes that I’d find a satisfying conclusion. I quickly became a book heretic but to be honest, contrary to what I’d been told, reading the ending never spoiled a thing! This covert search became my secret way of choosing the next bestseller with guaranteed success! You see, knowing the ending didn’t deter me from seeking the adventure that led me there. In fact, it only assured me the journey would be worth it!

I believe God gave us the book of Revelation for a reason. He isn’t trying to spoil the ending, He’s giving us the grace to continue the journey with more than just a hope! We know what’s coming; Jesus himself. We know who wins; Jesus himself. So feel free to keep skipping to the ending, because it is our greatest confidence in times of trouble!

“…“Yes, I am coming soon.”

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”

Revelation 22:20-21

Prayer

HONOR GOD

Romans11:33

Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

In every instance that I do not have an answer, God does.

ASK GOD

Romans 8:32 NASB

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

Surely the Lord is willing to grant us our very minor requests in comparison to the absolute best that Heaven has to offer; which He has already given us in His son Jesus!

SUBMIT TO GOD

Lamentations 3:24-25

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I wait for Him.” The Lord is good to those who await Him, To the person who seeks Him.

I chose to wait until God’s answer is clear, until His hand is present, until His peace is my guiding force. I trust in His goodness.

CLOSING PRAYER

Father, we know you are in control. Thank you that we can trust in your power and your word. Help us to recognize the magicians and illusions of this world that will attempt to distract us from your power. May your Holy Spirit lead us through conviction and encouragement to trust in your holy word.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
